SUNSET PARK
Right on the waterfront, you'll find Sunset Park. Sit on one of the benches and breathe in the fresh air. Walk through the grass or sit under the trees. John Philip Sousa, composer and famous Marine Corps bandleader, and his family, lived in Sands Point for nearly 50 years. An active participant in community life including school events, Sousa served as entertainment committee chairman at the Manhasset Bay Yacht Club for many years. It seemed right to name the space designed for playing military band music after him. There is a lot to enjoy in and about Sunset Park. Bring your own folding chairs, sandwiches and filled thermos bottles or pick something up at a nearby deli and come on down.
HARBOR LINKS GOLF COURSE
The 18-hole "Harbor Links" course at the Harbor Links Golf Course facility in Port Washington features 6,927 yards of golf from the longest tees for a par of 72 . The course rating is 73.2 and it has a slope rating of 128 on Blue grass. Designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan, ASGCA/Dana Fry, ASGCA, the Harbor Links golf course opened in 1998.Harbor Links is a member of the Audubon Certified Signature Sanctuary Program and is the 29th facility in the world to achieve Signature Status. Aside from the 18 hole course, Harbor Links is also host to miniature golf, junior golf programs and weddings/social events.
Landmark on Main Street
Landmark on Main Street is a national, state and local historic landmark. Built in 1908, thousands of Port Washington students were educated in what was then known as the Main Street School until it closed in 1985. Thanks to a true grassroots effort, Landmark opened its doors as a community center in 1995. With 59 units of affordable housing for seniors and the developmentally disabled on the upper floors, Landmark is also home to the Port Washington Youth Council's Teen Center, the Port Washington Parent's Resource Center and the Port Washington Children's Center, The Jeanne Rimsky Theater, and the Doctor's Gymnasium.
LADY LIBERTY CRUISES
Lady Liberty Cruises offers you an enjoyable cruise from the Manhasset Bay Marina in Port Washington to the Statue of Liberty. You can host any type of events onboard including birthdays, weddings, graduation parties, bridal and baby showers, anniversaries and Bar/Bat Mitzvahs. They also offer a Mother's Day Harbor Cruise, Father's Day Harbor Cruise, 4th of July cruise and Sunday afternoon cruise. For senior citizens there's a special afternoon cruise.
